Saffron
Scottie and Andrew
These are the kids of 2021! Sabrina gave birth March 7th to Saffron and Scottie. Saffron was born first and was up and nursing. Scottie came about 15 minutes later. Sabrina cleaned him but he seemed a little weaker than his sister. Despite a heat lamp, he was shivering, and I stuffed him in my coat to warm him and finish drying him off. This seemed to really help and after a short time, he was nursing as energetically as his sister.

Despite being smaller, Saffron took her role as big sister very seriously. She bossed Scottie around and spent a good deal of time riding on his back. Saffron takes after her mother, being very independent. She’s sweet but likes to pick when you can pet her. Scottie, on the other hand, is very affectionate, perhaps because I had to snuggle him when he was born. He wants to be pet constantly and loves human company. He was weaned at six months old and joined the brush control herd of Akyla Farms.

Andrew was born to Allykat on May 11th. He was pretty large, being a single kid, and Alli was worn out, but she is such an attentive mother and had him dry and nursing in no time. Andrew is more standoffish than his cousins, Saffron and Scottie, but still a nice, good-natured boy. He also joined Scottie in the brush control herd, as I traded him for Iris. Saffron will remain with her mother and join the dairy does next year when she will be bred to Jax.
